Ruairi Robinson has made a couple of short films over the years (including one which was nominated for an Oscar) but it was his last film that finally openend the door for a full length feature. The Silent City isn't exactly brilliant but I do love the basic idea and the fact that that Robinson isn't afraid to tease the audience. Nothing really happens and then something does happen but before we find out the outcome, the film ends. Gutsy move to leave the story unfinished like that, especially when you've only been telling that bit of story for 6 minutes.
The other two things that stand out about Robinson's short film is the humour and the effects. Keep in mind this dates back a few years but it's pretty impressive when yo consider how far the techonology has come in four years; I'm hopeful that this is a small indication of what we can expect from his upcoming full length feature BlinkyTM.
And don't blink or you'll miss Cillian Murphy.

First I have seen it also. For some reason I picture what ever is coming out of the old city for the troops is proabably like the robot from killer robot from Hardware only alot bigger and more BAD ASS looking ?
