With LOST officially ending and Flashforward flashfloundering in the ratings, ABC is hoping the upcoming Happy Town will fill the void. With a murder at its core and its cast of small town oddballs who never discuss past secrets, comparisons to Twin Peaks have been tossed around since the show was announced.

Synopsis:
Haplin, Minnesota "Happy Town" is approaching five years of peace after being riddled for years by unsolved kidnappings. But, in the wake of this small town's first crime in five years, some dark truths are being revealed about some familiar faces. They say every town has its secrets... that doesn't even begin to describe Happy Town.

One of the creators of the show is Josh Appelbaum who worked on Alias, so I'm hoping it's got some staying power. Happy Town stars Sam Neill and Amy Acker (Dollhouse) among others.

Happy Town premieres on April 28, 2010 and the first 14 minutes of the show are after the break.

So did they ever figure out who killed Laura Palmer?

Ok I know I’m the resident philistine but I never got Twin Peaks and I don’t get this. I like it that the sheriff is happily married, the “Hands on Realtor” I’ve seen before the whole thing has a “Network feel” to it. Then again I never got Seinfeld until it was in reruns.
