agentorange [Film Festival 06.02.10] movie news interview scifi horror

It's very rare that a film like Splice ends up getting a decent release. Maybe if it came out in the mid-eighties, when guys like Cronenberg and Lynch were dabbling in its kind of bodily psuedo science fiction you could catch a break, but these days, unless your last name's Bowie...er, I mean, Jones it's tough to avoid the direct-to-video dungeon.

That's why we all need to get out this weekend and sopport Vincenzo Natali's Splice. It was a long battle to get it out and word from those who have been fortunate to have seen it (with the odd exception) is that it's quite an acheivement in ballsy, smart scifi.

But, you don't have to take my word for it. Just read rochefort's review, Ben Autwick's review and wathc the interviews after the break.

I’m planning on seeing this puppy I haven’t seen a really good creature feature since Aliens. This looks like a winner with people bitching about all the garbage out there, I can understand the urge to wait for cable or the dollar movie, but no guts no glory.

I saw this last weekend at SIFF and loved it. Was a little surprised that beat for beat it followed Cronenberg's The Fly pretty closely. Saw some touches of Alien as well. Definitely will see this again!

I would love to see it this weekend, but I can't find any showtimes. When will it be released in London?
