Christopher Webster [Celluloid 06.21.10] trailer apocalyptic action

How this novel gets away with being such a rip off of Red Dawn, I'll never figure out, but here's the full trailer. Looks pretty once once it gets rocking.

Synopsis:
When their country is invaded and their families are all taken, eight unlikely high school teenagers band together to fight.

The cast includes Rachel Hurd-Wood, Phoebe Tonkin, Caitlin Stasey and Lincoln Lewis.

Full length trailer (via: firstshowing)after the break.

i read the 1st book, was pretty boring really. the movie is taking typical liberties. In the first book it was more like a police action than a facist regime with black uniforms killing indescriminately. but whatever. I'll see it.

There is a fine line between Rip-off and Homage... Now, I don't know about the book but this movie looks to be on the ripoff end. And from what I can see in the trailer they've replaced the political and sociological commentary with dune-buggies and explosions... Not a fair trade.

It will be interesting to see. People have to remember that during WWII, Austrailia was subject to military attacks by the Japanese. Therefore, their feeling of being at risk to an invasion is probably not unsubstantiated, given fairly recent history.

Looks like an Aussie version of Red Dawn but without the communists. Nevertheless, it might be entertaining as Red Dawn was, even if the scenario is implausible. That scenario being a small group of young people, with no military training or experience, suddenly become very successful guerilla fighters against a large, modern military force.
