Last autumn we posted a promotional teaser for Kike Maíllo's great looking Eva which featured a robotic girl being taught at a table along with some future technology which looked pretty spectacular. The film started shooting in December with Inglorious Basterds star Daniel Bruehl in the lead role of Álex, a cybernetics engineer who is asked to work on a very special project: creating a robot child.

This shiny teaser for the film gives us a first look at Bruehl in action, putting together what I can only assume is the cybernetic equivalent of the soul and then we see the robot wake up as Eva, Álex’s young niece, looks on in awe.

Though the teaser does little more than show a short clip, the film promises a “story of return, re-encounters and loss.” I’m getting a bit of an A.I.: Artificial Intelligence vibe, mostly because of the obvious child robot connection but there’s also something a bit magical about the look of this sequence, from the CG elements and right down to the music. I can’t wait to see what a full trailer reveals about this story.
