agentorange [Celluloid 07.22.10] movie trailer scifi



I've talked about how Tron's basic concept won't be as awe inspiring to audiences today as it was in the 80s when personal computing was in its infancy and comuters in general were new-fangled, but I honestly think this sequel will be an awe inspiring cinematic experience. And you know what? I'm okay with that. Tron Legacy has a lot going for it and if the story ends up being captivating I think it'll be a winner. From the looks of this new trailer it'll certainly be one for IMAX.

Synopsis:
Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous,

That is so awesome I'm not even sure it's legal to be this excited - it'll only end in disappointment (though I hope it doesn't). Wow that's purdy.

Simply amazing. This, no doubt, will be the best movie this year. Even IF there are possible problems with the story - the action and the overall visual design are so going to counter every other problematic aspect.

Let alone the fact, there´s some "Black Hole" reference in the trailer is absolutely fantastic!

Oh boy - this looks really dodgy. It kind of reminds me of how silly the original Tron film was, and how it buckled under the weight of it's own effects, but this seems to boast a sheer pomposity that makes it look pretty whack... and just taking itself way too seriously.

I hope I'm wrong, I'm a big fan of The Dude.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you're right on the money. I think this flick will feature a lot of samurai-level seriousness.

Word from Comic Con is the eight minutes of footage shown had a pretty high cheese factor, BUT it was leveled off by the higher "cool" factor.

Ultimately I'm reminding myself that this is Joseph Kosinski's first feature and it will have all the usual flaws that come with that. Having said that, I love Tron and have my fingers crossed that it will rule.
