Remember the end of that hideous remake of Dawn of the Dead? The boat going off to the island? That's what happens here.
A year after the dead have risen and decimated the world's population, two survivors escape to a safe haven on a deserted island, only to discover that it’s just as deadly as where they came from.
This was clearly shot on digital, I'm guessing Red, and it looks mighty fine. When's it dropping? There's a pre-screening coming up in Michigan in Florida, so lets hope we can get a screener.
Trailer after the break.

I thought Zach Snyders Dawn 04 was actually pretty dam Good ! And a hell of alot better then the last 3 horrible movies Romero has put out.

You got me curious about the camera. Turns out it was shot on a Canon 7d. :) http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/21780

i have to agree with the original comment, dotd remake was way less shitty than anything romero made after the original. large parts of it were even rad. maybe i'm biased because i'm in toronto but i think romeros 3rd last and 2nd last two pieces of shit were filmed here, too. i don't know, i'm drunk, this trailer looks promising.

Dawn remake was good for what it was.
Canon EOS 7D, sweet. I'm looking to shoot on one next month and am glad to see features being produced with them. The future looks bright for independent film making
Dead Season looks good too ;)

I am going to have to agree with first commenter as well, the remake of dawn was really a fun film for me.
Much better then anything else Romero put out after the original dawn

Snyder's Dawn was good indeed, very good!!

"Hideous remake"? C'mon, Snyder's Dawn was far more entertaining than the original, in fact, I consider it superior to Romero's version, that's not to say I didn't like his Dawn.
Anonymous (1 year ago) Reply
this looks bad. you better recognize Mr. Quiet Earth, that Romero is sadly now a hack, and that most anything zombie fiction related is not going to live up to your obviously superior expectations. sorry :(
quietearth (1 year ago) Reply
The point is not Romero's current output, it's the incredible first DOTD (specifically the directors cut).
The remake was Hollywood flash and cut scenes. In the original the actually lived in the mall. It's a post apocalyptic fetish.

Have to join the Snyder support, his Dawn was great fun :) Of Romero's series, only Night and Dawn were really any good, Day was kinda boring and his more recent efforts were hideous! Hell, even Zombie Diaries was better than Diary of the Dead.

First things first, you people are crazy. The "Remake" of dawn of the dead was awful. There was 0 charter development in that film. Parts of it were kind of cool but by and large the movie was just bad. Had it have been named anything else I might have been able to enjoy the movie but calling it a "remake" of quite possibly the best zombie film ever made is just unacceptable.
Now that I've covered that this movie looks interesting and I'll be looking for a Michigan showing.

I have to jump in on the Snyder Apologist bandwagon here, too. I really liked his Dawn of the Dead, and think it's quite possibly one of the best zombie movies out there. Whatever skill Romero had has obviously been bled dry, because just about everything he's done recently has just been trash.
It sounds like you have a kind of anti-Hollywood bias, quietearth, which is fine. I for one like a little bit of 'flash-and-cut'. I can also appreciate the craft that went into making something that ultimately turns out to be disappointing. The original "Dawn" just didn't do it for me quite as much.
Lotus Eater (1 year ago) Reply
bullshit!
The original "dawn of the dead" is better. Though the remake is good too. ;-)
When the zombie apocalypse occurs be thankful that your leaders will be safe & with you in spirit as they watch you struggle to survive the onslaught of your undead neighbors via satellite.

"Hideous" — Could you be more wrong? DOTD2004's opening 13 minute sequence is fantastic, and the rest of the movie is better than anything Romero has done in the last 10 years, and better than 28 Weeks Later (which also had a great opening sequence).
VictorHyde (1 year ago) Reply
I guess the world really has been taken over by mindless zombies! Only they would think that Romero has ever made a bad zombie film. He is and will always be the best, Snyder is a hack compared with Romero. Not to mention that DEAD PEOPLE ARE NOT FAST!!!!! THERE DEAD! Wake up morons and stop liking crap like this!!

i thought Snyder's remake was a good zombie movie and then i watched the movie with his commentary and discovered that Snyder is a total hollywood dushbag TOOL. and now i love George R's new living dead movies even better, especially DIARY!!! hell, after listening to Snyder talk about how cool he and his movie were, it made me love the remake of day of the dead with the super fast "spidermen" wall crawling zombies even more!!! i WILL NEVER listen to director commentary ever again....
