Marina Antunes [Celluloid 10.25.10] Greece movie trailer news horror thriller

Greek director Vassilis Katsikis is best known for his work on documentary films and his well received drama CCTV, not to mention directing one of Greece’s top box office earners of 2008. For a change of pace, he recently finished shooting a psychological thriller, produced and shot in Greece but with international actors and in English. It’s very forward thinking for international appeal though I’m not sure how that gamble will pay off for him.

Lurk looks like your typical haunted house type scenario. The film stars Tess Jackon-Spentzos as Anna, a woman whose home is invaded by a mysterious creature that both frightens and charms her and which eventually turns her against her husband and, from the film’s poorly translated synopsis, herself.

I’m not typically a fan of these haunting films but this one caught my attention. Partly it’s Katsikis’ ballsy move to shoot in English to attract a wider audience but also the trailer itself which has old school horror appeal complete with off key, horror movie piano music accompaniment.
