post apocalyptic movie news The Day is a new post-apocalyptic film coming from Doug Aarniokoski that focuses on a group of youths. We're thinking Red Dawn meets Carriers? Deets are scant at any rate.
Synopsis:
an apocalyptic siege warfare film spanning 24 hrs during which a small group of survivors are pit against insurmountable odds
Also Aarniokoski has put together a compelling cast with Shawn Ashmore (Frozen, The X Men), Ashley Bell (The Last Exorcism) and Dominic Monaghan (Lost, Lord of the Rings).
You can check out a gallery of character art (via: Twitch) below.

I'd like to say as a member of "The Savages"(backround//ge/sse) and having had the wonderful opportunity and pleasure of working with some of the cast, crew and my fellow "Savages", This film promises to be not only a very well filmed project with an amazing group of individuals behind the scenes making it all possible, but an intensely riveting story that will surely keep your heart racing!!!! Thanks to all :)
We will always have Ashton to remember lol
(without mentioning names) We will call her MOM ;) >I want to say, Thank you oh so very much for putting all that "Motherly" love into every single meal, massage, and comforting hug so many came to you for that you so graciously accepted with open arms<
...Like I said ...Absolutely great experience and enjoyed it to the max.
Sincerely,
~S~

Ah yes - a fine group of Savages. Aside from the main cast, Ashley, Mike, Sean, Shannon - everyone else was Ottawa Ontario Canada Based. Ottawa is becoming "the Place to Film" in a very short period of time. Not only is there ample tax credits to satisfy budgets, but the dedicated crew are phenomenal - and the local talent is abundant. More and More productions are making there way to Ottawa - and having been in this City and Industry for many years now - it's nice to see that it is all starting to pay off. Rob Menzies - Servicing Line Producer, and his partners and crew with ZEDFILMWORKS are able to handle any type of production with ease and are such a gem!! Lisa - Production Designer - WOW WOW WOW - that's what I have to say about you! Your amazing and a great asset to any film. LAYTON MORRISON - Stunt Coordinator, holly you cow - you had your work cut out for ya on this one! You were great and really carried the production that was so action intensive - I really can't wait for your up and coming Directorial debut. All SAVAGES!! you guys really put your heart and soul into it - filming around the clock! Most of us in freezing temperatures, swamp and rain .... wicked job! SEAN MOREL - an up and coming "star" of Ottawa - I can't wait to see more of you on screen! and of course ALISON & SHAM - OMG Thank you so much for all the love you poured into the food you made to keep us human... homemade soup! Hand made bread! Love and affection!!! Thank you.
What can I say - It was crazy - totally worth it! Glad to be a part of it. * TL*
