movie news thriller For his feature film debut, Canadian actor turned director Dominic James has managed to bring together a great cast of talent from the Great White North to star in his full length feature directorial debut, a thriller titled Die.
Starring the fantastic Elias Koteas alongside Emily Hampshire, John Pyper-Ferguson and Caterina Murino, Die is a Canadian and Italian co-production that sits somewhere between Cube and 13 Tzameti. The official synopsis reads:
Six people, each of them is on the road to self-destruction. They wake up in cells in a surreal facility, without knowing how they got there or why. Are they in denial? Are they crazy? What happened? As they try to figure things out, a mysterious man forces the six abductees to participate in a disturbing experiment called the Trials. During the experiment, the unwilling participants will come to face disturbing truths about themselves and decide each others' fate in a game of dice. As the storyline unfolds, we discover that something greater connects them all.
It’s not exactly a new story but I’m hopeful that writers Nick Mead and Domenico Salvaggio have managed to infuse this with something new. The idea of death via dice roll is a little ludicrous but it seems to work here. I’m actually digging the overproduced look of the trailer and frankly, I’ll give my money to anything with Koteas in it. Give him a lead role as he appears to have here and you can count my movie ticket as money in the bank. That man should really get more leading roles and it looks like Die is making full use of his talents.
No news yet on the possible release for this thriller but we’ll keep you posted as more details are announced.
