So admittedly this isn’t going to be winning any prized for story or probably acting but dude. Duuuuuuuuuuuuude! It’s robots fighting robots! This is better than any Transformers movie even if it comes from the director of Date Night and Night at the Museum one and two.

Here’s the official word:

Hugh Jackman plays Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next. When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.

As for the trailer…it’s kind of wicked even if Hugh Jackman seems to be channelling Jerry Maguire.

Trailer after the break.

Oh my goodness. Seems to me like (another) multi-million-dollar b-movie. Am I the only one who has to think on the small children toy, with those two plastic robots?

@Nebbish:

It's apparently based on the same short story by Richard Matheson that the Twilight Zone episode was based on, although I do not think that the ending is going to be quite the same.

My opinion is that this will be a fun little B-movie that has the budget of A material, sort of like Predators, and although it won't be the greatest movie I've ever seen, I think it will be a fun watch.
