Not the decision I would've made.. I'm more a Boy And His Dog type.

but... the dog has to die why? She has all the frozen meat she wants. Alive actually happened :-)
Ah well I don't like it when dogs have to die.
John (2 years ago) Reply
same here, dog dying was over the top, and totally unecessary.
There was plenty of "food", and the painting of the dog in the living room, tasteless.
Happy apocalypse end, highly likely, life is not SyFy channel.

Better story would have been deciding to leave because the man wants to eat the dog - so she chooses the dog over him and leaves. I agree with the posters who say it makes no sense to kill the dog - what are you going to eat after you've eaten the last of the dog anyway? Back to frozen human again, so nothing is gained.

Did she had sex with the old man?

Umm... what about all the canned food in the world? Seems it would last "just a little" longer than frozen humans. And where have all the frozen animals gone?

Great little film. Sure brought out the siskberts.

I rarely comment on a subject twice but “default is anonymous” comment touched a nerve. Liquids normally expand when frozen it depends on the length of time and temp any liquid containers would have been destroyed and the contents with them. Any meat would have freezer burn again depending on the length of time and temp. I would think any meat would just as eatable as your frozen ex boss. Now that I think about it I wonder how long Spam would last under these conditions?
Then again it’s just a movie, and one that makes you think like the good ones should.

Did she had sex with the old man or not? That's all I'm asking :)

This movie is not so much a "movie" but a "music video" for a young child's nonsensical narrative.
ReplicA (2 years ago) Reply
I know a dog dying sucks, but did you guys not hear that bit where she would do anything to not have to eat humans anymore? Did that just kinda skip over your brains? She made a mistake with the dog, because she wanted to be with the man, maybe have some normalcy in her life again. It was a bad decision, she paid for it. And the comment that the painting of the dog was bad taste is juvenile, and thoughtless. The painting was in remembrance for the only companion she had for so long, giving him the respect that she could have given, acknowledging that she made a mistake. And toro, YES she had sex with the old man, which is why the kid she gave birth too, called him "my dad". I swear SOME of these posters are functionally retarded. THINK for half a second, and it makes sense.

Very nice film. I enjoyed it and even though some people say the dog thing was put in for emotional appeal, I can see the reasoning of the director. I completely agree with what ReplicA said in his post too.
soundnfury (2 years ago) Reply
Impressive. Still, more proof that you should never ask children to record voice-overs. The dog would probably have done a better job.
John (2 years ago) Reply
ReplicA, yes it was a bad decision, she left after that, but the question is why do it? Surely she wanted company of humans, but it is kind of stupid that the dog - her only friend trough thick and thin, should pay for it, because the man wanted it?
We can say whatever we want and think just the same, and you my friend are NO ONE to comment on how and what anyone THINKS, especially brand it juvenile or thoughtless, but instead treat it with respect, and dispute it if you like, with your own observations.
Now that you touched the subject, imagine Max eating his dog, not one in a 10^7 chance, even when the cans ran out.
Painting part was tacky and is saying like "I made a bad decision and killed you, then I put your picture on the living room wall to remember I did, out of "respect"".
These posters have their own opinions, which when someone disrespects it and treats it with a word retarded, speaks about him more then anything.

Wow, she had sex with the old man! It never crossed my mind.
Did she had sex with the dog? :)
toro (2 years ago) Reply
For a real opinion, I think the entire movie smells like cheap emotional manipulation. The decision to kill the dog doesn't make sense. The off screen sex with the old man is another no go. And overall, the main character is just to soft for that world - she doesn't belong to that context. For these reasons, I think this short is a failure. Pretty visuals, but no deep meaning whatsoever. Harsh, maybe, but this is my opinion. :(
cheezit (2 years ago) Reply
you might as well accept the fact the canabalism WILL become a reality at some point...provided society survives that long...humans are so pathetically weak and human cadavers will ALWAYS be in abundance...figure it out...
ReplicA (2 years ago) Reply
John, have your opinion, that's cool. I was more trying to point to the possible reasons the characters would have to do the things they did. Killing the dog was a bad idea, and no it doesn't make sense. Paying tribute to the dog with a painting does make sense, whether you like it or not.
you can spout the old troll chestnut, "we have the right to think blah blah blah..." all you want, but who cares? I guess I'm supposed to respect you now, cause you posted a reply? My main frustration was at the incredibly genius toro who kept asking "did she had sex with the old man?"
Toro, you posted like you're being sarcastic, but you asked the same question twice, suggesting you didn't know the answer, and were desperate to find out. So I gave you the answer. Now you act all smug, like you already knew? Man, you're pathetic. At least John made a semi coherent post. You sound like a pervert that got caught, and now is trying to make excuses as to why you're not a pervert.
You two can go ahead, and tell me how awful I am for my post, and calling you functionally retarded, but I couldn't care less. I enjoyed the movie, you obviously didn't, and in the end, who fucking cares?
toro (2 years ago) Reply
ReplicA is NOT caring. You heard it here first!!! Now, all the retarded and pervert people can go home. The show is over. There is nothing you can do about it. He just DON'T CARE. Yep. Such a cruel world. :)

I'm not killing my dog for no woman! Some of you are right there must be food somewhere. I'd be eating cardboard before my dog.

This has some strong parallels with the book "The Snow" by Adam Roberts. Well, it is exactly like the first half of the book anyway, as the end gets a bit silly.
Also, it really reminded me of this book as we see her venture out later on and the snow is up to the traffic light, suggesting that it is the same apocalypse as in the book. This being that one day is starts to snow and never stops, eventually creating a new layer of snow that builds up to miles above the surface.
