Earlier this year we saw a behind the scenes peek at Blackthorn, Mateo Gil’s western starring Sam Shepard, Stephen Rea and Eduardo Noriega. The film picks-up years after the end of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid with Butch (Shepard) as an older man living out the remaining years of his life as a horse breeder in Bolivia. Wanting to see home one last time, he heads off to the US, along the way meeting Ernesto, a mine technician who is on the run after robbing a mine. In need of money to finish his trip, and likely remembering his days running from the law, Cassidy agrees to help Ernesto.
We were pretty excited at the prospect of a new western and one that was looking promising from the behind the scenes footage and now that we’ve got an actual trailer, I’m even more excited because it looks like we’re in for a good film, even if the trailer leaves a fair bit to be desired.
