"I didn't know anything about the remake until I read about it on the Internet." -- Stephen King
Stephen King has weighed in the news that his popular novel The Stand will finally be seeing a movie adaptation. First off, he agrees with most of you who think one movie just won't cut it:
"You absolutely can't make it as a two-hour movie. If it was a trilogy of films ... maybe."
King also feels that there's no actor who could do better than the original miniseries lead (Gary Sinese).
"No one will be able to top Gary , who played Stu Redman in the original ABC miniseries," said King. "He was perfect. When he says 'You don't know nothing' to the soldiers who are putting him under mandatory quarantine, you believe his contempt completely."
But if Sinese ain't interested, who DOES King want to see in the role?
"My runner-up pick would be Jake Gyllenhaal."
Do you agree? If not, who SHOULD get to portray Stu Redman?

Gyllenhaal sounds good to me. Mortenson or Bale would be nice, too.

I can kind of see Emelio Estevez in the "Stu" role.. M.O.O.N. .. That spells Stu.
redheadtom (1 year ago) Reply
Gary Sinese was for me the ideal Stu..The right amount of texan homespun belivablilty....you dont want big names...with a movie like this, youll get genre favourites...how about josh holloway as stu?
