Man, the apocalypse can teach us anything, it seems. Reminiscent of 70s eco-apocalypse thrillers, Earthship is a student produced film that aims to entertain, while exposing the audience to certain realities of sustainable living.

Earthship was filmed in the summer of 2009 outside Taos, New Mexico. The house is a real location known as the "Phoenix House," one of the largest REAL Earthships ever built. For more on Earthships and the biotecture community, or to inquire about staying at the Phoenix visit www.earthship.com

Synopsis:
The Whitmore family has survived a climate change disaster by hiding from the world in their sustainable home called an Earthship. Now that the youngest Dax has come of age he wants to see what has become of the world, but when a mysterious woman appears at their house everything changes.

Earthship was written, directed and produced by David K Wilson and stars Genia Michaela, James Loren, Brian Leahy and Gavin McClure.

There are haters everywhere. I actually saw this short at the Phoenix film festival a few weeks ago. It was pretty fun, not going to win an Oscar or anything, but I was really into the story. The world looks really cool too. If it is at a fest near you check it out.
