movie trailer news fantasy We know a lot of great filmmakers come from Mexico but surprisingly most of them, at the top of the list is current IT man Guillermo del Toro, have made their big films outside of the Mexican system. Well that might be about to change. I say might because I’m not quite sure how things are going to play out for Fallen Angel (Angel Caido).
Toted as the “first part” of the first epic fantasy to be completely produced in Mexico, Arturo Anaya T.’s film is pretty typical fare as far as fantasy is concerned. It features good and evil in battle for the world with one man holding the key (literally) to salvation.
The official synopsis explains the story in slightly more detail:
Liut is a Sephyro, part Angel and part human, and he discovers that he is the heir of the key that opens the door to the reign of heaven. Luzbel and his army of demons try to retrieve the key to begin a final war and take over the throne of heaven. The end of the world is near.
I’m actually really stoked about the possibility of this project doing well. I like the story and it’s fantastic to see such a huge project being produced out of Mexico but I’m just not sure about this trailer. I can’t tell if the style of the trailer is suggestive of what we can expect for the entire film; I hope not or this is going to get old really fast. It’s also not completely clear from this trailer but some of the story seems to take place in a modern setting, something which is also suggested by a few images on the film’s official website.
Along with the film, there’s also a book and comic series in the works. At least they’re covering all their bases.
I’m on the fence about this project and need to see more to make up my mind either way but it could be promising. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think.
Trailer after the break.

Seems very (VERY!) reliant of Peter Jackson' LotR images in the trailer, it almost seems like ASYLUM's version of the Rings trilogy!

Suffers from vast amounts of clean and freshly pressed clothes, but all other things considered, it is B ok.

There is another older and a bit different trailer with more on the bad guys here:

Not a fan of some of the soft focus, but for this most part this looks pretty sweet. Dark fantasy-tastic.

Looks like computer game trailer. Anyway, B-fantasy is what I need.

I never knew William Tell was mentioned in the bible. Hmm... maybe he was the one who shot Goliath in the back while David got all the merits. I smell a conspiracy.
