Get your pocketbooks ready Gigerfans because you’re about to drop a chunk of change on a great looking documentary.

This has likely eluded us this long because it was produced and released in Europe on DVD with little cross over into the North American market but H. R. Giger Revealed looks like the kind of project I salivate over. The 52 minute documentary was written and directed by David N. Jahn, a man intimately familiar with Giger – he worked as Giger’s intern for a number of years.

The documentary, which was also produced by Giger, includes an interview with the artist, interviews with artists that have worked with Giger along with cultural figures who, over the years, have crossed paths with the artist. The DVD also includes a 30 minute Art in Motion short which is a collection of Giger’s “paintings processed digitally in high resolution quality, 3D animated and together with original film music and surround sound,” a 15 minute documentary titled Home Made which looks into Giger’s day to day life as well as a collection of short films. A detailed list of DVD contents can be found at the official website.

It’s a pretty swell package for any Gigerfan and thought it’s not exactly cheap at 34 euros, it’s one of those must have items. I’m putting this sucker on my birthday wishlist. If you care to buy me a copy, you can do so here.

Love this guys work, and having a documentary on him is something I've been wanting for ages. I hope this won't cause another influx of Giger copycat artists. Sorry, but Giger is the ONLY one who can pull it off. The rest of them aren't even shadows compared to the real thing

pretty much everyone has been influenced by Giger in one way or another. Even Testuo Nihei has.
