We've been singing the praises of the new wave of hard hitting, technically savvy Australian movies for a while now and based on this trailer for the controversial Snowtown, it looks like things in the continent are not slowing down at all.

Considered a controversial film in Australia, Snowtown is based on the true story of John Bunting, the country's most notorious serial killer, and his role as ringleader of a group of young accomplices -- responsible for 12 murders in and around Snowtown, South Australia in the 1990s.

If you loved David Michôd's Animal Kingdom (">see it!) then we're hearing Justin Kurzel's Snowtown is probably right up your alley. I can't wait to check this out.

Little old Adelaide, the city I live in, is not known to most people. I don’t think it has a particularly high murder rate, but Adelaide is infamous in Australia, and is sometimes referred to as the capital of “weird and bizarre” murders in Australia. I’ve seen the following documentary, regarding the Snowtown murders:

This would have to be one of the worst cases I’ve heard of, in terms of nastiness. When the Snowtown case hit the media in South Australia (State) years ago, it shook the population to the core. In addition to the Snowtown murders, there have been a number of other bizarre and intriguing cases in South Australia:

If any of this intrigues any readers, then it’s definitely worthwhile looking at this link, and all the subsequent links. Some of the cases ocurred in South Australia, some in other states:

But in regards to the movie SNOWTOWN, it is an absolute MUST for all Quiet Earth viewers when it hits the big screen.
