We were already pretty impressed with the first trailer for Richard Ayoade's coming of age drama Submarine but I have to admit, now that I’ve charged through four seasons of Ayoade on the hilarious “The IT Crowd,” I’m pinning to see what Ayoade has to offer behind the camera; and though this is not the first thing he’s ever directed, it’s the first I've had the chance to see.
Based on Joe Dunthorne’s novel, Submarine is the story of 15-year-old Oliver Tate, a young man with two objectives in life: “To lose his virginity before his next birthday, and to extinguish the flame between his mother and an ex-lover who has resurfaced in her life.” Apparently he goes about this in some really bizarre ways.
I’m still a little concerned that this might be a little too quirky and all of the quotes about how original the film is put me a little off but I have faith that Ayoade won’t disappoint and this trailer, like the last, made me smile. Definitely ready to give this one a go.
Submarine opens June 3rd.

I'm looking forward to this too, I never really got into the IT crowd, but i love Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, if you haven't seen it yet you must, it's terribly brilliant, i'm pretty sure you'd love it too.
