Christopher Webster [Celluloid 04.29.11] post apocalyptic movie news

Well here's some weird news. The LA Times's 24Frames blog is reporting that everyone's favourite masked avenger, Zorro, will be heading to "a desolate and post-apocalyptic future" near you.

According to "a person familiar with the film" the the new film, called Zorro Reborn, "will be less a caped crusader for justice than a one-man vigilante force bent on revenge, in a western story that has echoes of both Sergio Leone and No Country for Old Men.

The Zorro reboot is to be the feature film debut of Rpin Suwannath, a previsualization guy who's apparently worked on X-Men, The Matrix and Chronicles of Narnia movies.

The script for "Zorro Reborn" is done and was penned by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, the guys behind the Dracula reboot "Harker".

A Fox spokeswoman declined to comment.

Interesting no?

This is actually kind of interesting. I have a hard time getting into Zorro, but this may change that.
