We haven't talked about Alejo Mo-Sun's Hirokin in about a year. At the time, we had a making of video which suggested a seriously epic scale PA flick starring Wes Bentley as a "reluctant hero who is marked by a dark past and who must fulfill his destiny when forced to choose between avenging the murder of his family or fighting for the freedom of a people long abused. The film also stars Angus Macfadyen (Saw III), Julian Sands ("24"), Jessica Szohr ("Gossip Girl") and Laura Ramsey (The Ruins) will star.
Well, with production wrapped and the movie in distribution mode, we've got a trailer and it's… interesting. Desert, swords, mysterious dudes in masks and spaceships. It's kind of cool looking and for some strange reason reminds me of Outlander in its strange mix of genres. I'm sure it'll be all sorts of schlocky fun and who am I kidding, I absolutely love this cast. Here's hoping we get, at the very least, a DVD release.
Trailer after the break.

I got more of a Dune (Frank Herbet meets David Lynch) with a splash of Syfy, to be honest.
I'll still take a look for it and likely watch it.

This looks so much like that old 80's Patrick Swayze movie - Steel Dawn. Very 80's with the costume design. Why is it that production of movies like these always have the clothes so clean and pristine looking. There's no sweat marks from being in the desert, no stains, no dust, dirt, rips, etc. and the frayed edges look so faked. Pass.

I was tempted to write some smart a$$ remark I’m not a big sword and tech guy so I’m really not sure what to make of it. I get a repressive bad guys killed holy warrior woman and child vibe. Now he are out to unite the tribes and avenge said woman and child. Falls in love most of you know the drill and have seen some variation of it a million times. Maybe I’m wrong maybe I’m cynical, maybe I want another Korean creature feature on an oil derrick with lots of hot sweaty Korean women with subtitles. That’s my smart A$$ remark quota for this week.

Damn that looks good nice sword choreography nice camera work.
I am liking the vibe the film I'll support them.
Haven't seen Julian Sands in something in a while.
Now is this something that is going straight to TV? Look forward to the DVD
this looks like it was a lot of work.

Editing was quite poor for a feature trailer. For what was promised in the behind the scenes video i'm not too impressed.

Enough to get me curious about it. Tough genre to tackle. I agree that it doesn't feel like a trailer - wonder if there will be another one.

Got Star Wars vibe for sure, would love to see more, I like the costumes and the sword play. Jessica Z will also make it quite nice.

Well i think it definitely looks like a film I'll be seeing, its a mix of Dune and Star Wars. I think it'll be a gr8 film as it has a gr8 cast.
