It's like I've entered some sort of strange heaven-like place where nothing can go wrong; at least not while you're announcing vampire movies like they're going out of style. I know, I know. You're tired of it. I've heard the cry from our readers that they've had enough. But heck, if we can keep up with all the zombie movies out there, what's wrong with a few more fangs? I'm certainly more than OK with it especially when the project are as interesting as either of these.

To begin with, it turns out Neil Jordan hasn't completely lost his love for vampires and now, seventeen years after Interview with the Vampire, Jordan is returning to the bloody well with Byzantium. Starring Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton, the $11 million dollar production stars Arterton as a vampire who turns her daughter "and the pair form a lethal partnership, sometimes posing as sisters." The film is based on an original script penned by Moira Buffini and details are scarce amd there is little indication if the title refers to when the story takes place or when the pair turned into vampires (I assume the latter as an $11M budget doesn't allow a whole lot of room for extensive set design and constuming - though anything is possible). It may even refer to something else completely. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.

To make my head turn a little more there's also the earlier news that Jim jarmusch is also working on a vampire movie with Michael Fassbender, Mia Wasikowska, Tilda Swinton and John Hurt.

I expect of the two, Jarmusch's currently untitled project will be the harder of the two to sell but both of these films sound like quality productions. More details as they develop.
