War of the Worlds, Transformers 3, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, The Thing, Sucker Punch. Chances are you've heard of these film, but you've probably never heard of Aaron Sims.
Sims is the creature/conceptual designer who has helped bring some of the biggest filmmakers’ visions to life for the past some 25 years. During his illustrious career, Aaron has worked with visionary directors such as Steven Spielberg, Zack Snyder & Martin Campbell on some pretty big projects.
The latest short film from Aaron, ARCHETYPE is, well, stunning.
Synopsis:
RL7 is an eight foot tall combat robot. Only problem is he's starting to remember once being human. Now on the run from an all powerful corporation that will stop at nothing to destroy him, RL7 desperately searches for the truth behind his mysterious memories before it's too late.
Archetype stars Robert Joy, David Anders and Elle Newlands.

Haha, well maybe I was a little over zealous there ;)

Music is from the Sunshine soundtrack if anyone is wondering. It's a very popular track so i'm slightly disappointed they used it here. Would rather see an original piece to get a better sense of how the film will sound.

Either they've taken the thoughts and memories of a human and imposed them on a robot to make the unit act more intuitively in battle or they have put a different spin on Robocop.
I'll watch it, I love that type of story.

I think I know what's bugging me about this trailer. The first 14 seconds are useless.
Next, there is nothing in it that represents or links the robot to humanity. It truly lacks the ability to bond with the viewer on a level that would make them say "Hey, are these memories that this robot is experiencing?".
It needs to be re-edited.

Crap. Just crap.

Good LOOKING, but pretty useless as a trailer. Sims needs to hire himself a real editor.

Looked pretty killer to me. It has a lot to improve on, but going just from that little snippet of nothing, I'd watch it.

wow just wow, if he's as good as you say this is just embarrassing. Awful music choice. The 3d looks like something from a game. Editing really poor, I could make a better trailer, and why always use the same type of titles with a AE optical flare... Serious...

I would give him a chance, all vets deserve a fighting chance.

Dig the animation. Those subtle movements in the head/eyes rock. Poor little robot...
