Christopher Webster [Celluloid 06.22.11] post apocalyptic movie news scifi horror

Every one of Oren Peli's project's seem to be shrouded in mystery and the Paranormal Activity director certainly has a lot of them on the go. From the enticing Area 51 about a group of reporters who visit the famous base housing E.T.s to his television project The River, he's been busy prepping a lot of projects.

However I was surprised to learn today that Peli is also hard at work on an untitled project with Dark City producer Brian Witten... that also appears to be post-apocalyptic based on this synopsis and image we uncovered.

A group of friends become stranded in an eerie and desolate city. Years before in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, nature has begun to reclaim everything. As the sun sets on this radioactive ghost town, inhuman cries cut through the night air. It seems they are not alone.

Inhuman creatures in a post-nuke town? Wierd hey? I think the film will looks and feel apocalyptic, but the story is not about a world wide apocalypse. Rather the location is a town that was part of a nuclear experiment or something and has mutants a la Hills Have Eyes remake.

It's not much, but it certainly sounds interesting. Here's hoping we can find more details soon.
