It's true! Evil Dead 4 is happening - just not quite as you'd expect. For one, it's apparently "a quasi remake" according to Bloddy Disgusting. Considering Evil Dead 2 is essentially a remake also, I think that's no big deal.

Also, Sam Raimi will NOT direct, but rather Uruguayan filmmaker Federico Alvarez, who made an quick deal with Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures after his short film "Panic Attack!" (which appeared on QE first btw) became an internet sensation back in 2009, will helm the picture.

There is no indication whether Bruce Campbell will appear as Ash as yet, but considering this is the first real move towards getting another Evil Dead film I'd say it's interesting news.

Bruce Campbell posted on his twitter that he's involved but did not say if he was playing Ash.

Of course Bruce Campbell will be reprising the role of Ash. Why would you remake a B movie without the biggest draw? Not bringing back Ash would be like remaking Spaceballs into an opera. What's the point?
