agentorange [Celluloid 07.13.11] movie news scifi action thriller gallery adaptation

Sorry gang, no sign of stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, John Cho, Bill Nighy, Ethan Hawke, Bryan Cranston, or Jessica Biel in these spy-shots from the set of the new Total Recall movie. But there are Stormtroopers and even a Spinner form Blade Runner and that's gotta count for something, right?

Seriously though, these shots of the film's "Federal Police" were taken in downtown Toronto where the majority of the film's principle photography is happening.

The spy who sent the pics into AICN had this to say about the scene being shot: "It's a big futuristic space train-station type thing... future commuters in New Asia. In the scene, a massive spaceship apparently breaks through to the area and a big riot starts in which the New Asians try to overcome the robot police... the adaptation is more faithful to the original novel by Philip K. Dick than the previous film with Arnold."

I know it's a little early to say for sure, but I'm liking the direction of the production design. It's retro-futuristic with a hint of homage to films past. I'm not thrilled with the cast, but then again Farrell seemed in top form in those Fright Night trailers... can't wait to see some footage from this.

At first I was like "WTF *HEAD BOOM!*"

but now I'm starting to like it. In fact I'm now looking forward to it.

Why would you go and remake a perfectly good film that's also aged pretty well with time.

Why not? It's a just new interpretation of a story. If you don't like it don't watch it. It takes nothing away from the old movie nor does it change the old Total Recall in any way.

BTW: I love Total Recall and I'm sure this one won't disappoint either.
