There are a lot of great webseries out there that go unnoticed. Usually it's because the productions are small and run by people who have other jobs and responsibilities in their lives which means they can't devote the time to marketing and promotions; something Klas Persson readily admits to:
"As always when wearing too many hats something has got to be a little neglected. For us it was marketing. We have tried spreading the word on forums and things like that but no more than that, there simply hasn't been time to really push for it. And I do know the truism "marketing is not an after thought"."
We thought we'd do our part to help Klas spread the world as he prepares to work on the post apocalyptic zombie series' second season.
When you have a chunk of time at your disposal you can watch the entire first season of The Great Dying below and, as usual, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments section.
We're also curious to hear opinions on the best way to promote a webseries. What tactics would likely get people interested in tuning in?
Keep an eye on the show's official website

Just finished up the 3rd episode and so far its pretty dam silid and it has held my attention no problem and with most shorts especially zombie shorts that's quite hard to do, looking foward to a a 2nd season.

Just finished watching all of the ones posted
here ... they're fantastic, when will there be more ?

Couldn't get through the end of episode 1 unfortunately. Held my attention right up to the point where he fell asleep (why did he fall asleep???) And why did he fall asleep in the outer building? Would have liked to see some more footage in the abandoned massive building/station and maybe him spot the other person from the window at the top of the building. Would make sense if he got bitten to fall sleep in the outer areas of the building however there was no sign of skin damage which would account for him falling asleep due to exhaustion.
Also the start where the man got out of his tent to urinate was a bit long winded and needed a few more filters as it looked somewhat raw/amateur still when other parts of the film didn't.
These few things annoyed me so I couldn't watch any more.

Why? He was exhausted, when you've been out in the forests for days you will understand fatigue. I remember after spending 5 days in the forests, you fell asleep easily especially after the military kept up sleep depraved, imagine you're in a post apocalyptic setting, the world is out to get you, you run around looking to survive, walking and running, probably chased and attacked by zombies. When in such stress environments the body shuts down.
Also we do not know how long he has been out there, could be months, especially seeing he had some former history with the woman he meets with (you didn't see her because you stopped watching).
Good series.

Good grief, how short an attention span do you have to have to not be able to watch a 13 minute web short and wait for the plot to unfold? This seems well executed and am looking forward to the further episodes. QE please keep us informed when there are more. Thanks for flagging this up and for posting the episodes.

like I said above after episode 3 and it still holds up now even more so after finishing up episode 5 , hell of a great Zombie and just overall PA short series to watch, I thought the idea on how society or whats left of it years after the rise of the Zombies would of been nomad like and human advancement and life would of not looked to much better then it was in the dark ages was just spot on and very realistic for any PA scenario.

Not a bad series, but I have to say, the music is a little glaringly bad in places. Not the notes, or the melody or composition so much, but the sample library used is simply terrible. It's bad enough to be distracting, just these constantly wavering notes, these short, mechanical samples. There's just no excuse, at any budget, so have music that cripples scenes. I would seriously consider upgrading the music by simply putting your MIDI composition in another program, even one as simple and cheap as Edirol's Orchestra.

I hate to jump on the marketing wagon. But I'd like to invite anyone and everyone to check out my zombie web series. Not saying its the best, but I'm very proud of it.

jond76 - Thanks alot for the info on your zombie web series. I am always up for watching or reading any thing Zombie related. Just got done with the 4th video and so far so good. I actually think it's spot on and very realistic, The reason being at the very start of the outbreak this is how most of the 1st attacks and spreading of the virus would happen. All in all you should be very proud, like I said good stuff very solid !

I am all up for webshorts but that doesn't justify inconsistency and randomness. I understand exhaustion for sure, however in episode 1 there was a cut right after the man had the fight with the zombie. Right after the fight! Not only was there a cut, but we were put into a different location and new POV out of the blue! Out of nowhere we were placed outside in another part of this building which we never saw the insides of. So I ask What happened in between that cut? Why is he outside? Why isn't he at a higher ground where there is a better view? Anything could have happened in the time of the cut. Not only was there 1 random cut but there was then another cut less than 30 seconds after the first. What's that about? It honestly felt like poor writing and a crappy link to get the other character involved. If I have to endure poor editing or directing within the first 5 minutes, then sorry I'm just not going waste any more time on this project. Who knows what other plot holes will I have to witness?!

I did not read this part until I made my comment. You just proved my point is valid. So the man does have previous history with this women. Then it was indeed a piss-poor attempt at linking two characters together; too many cuts in such a short space of time leads to disruption in the flow of a film.
