Night of the Living Dead is getting yet another update though this time around, it's coming to us via animation.

Zebediah De Soto's Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D retells Romero's classic tale but moves the story to New York City, locking a group of individuals in an apartment trying to stay alive against the growing horde of zombies.

We haven't been tracking De Soto's project all that closely but the release of a trailer over the weekend prompted a closer look at the production which, for my money, looks like a low budget video game. In fact, it's very reminiscent of 2000's Activision and Nihilistic Software's "Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption" which was based on White Wolf"s "Vampire: The Masquerade" role-playing game.

I don't whole dislike this trailer which shows off the film's style which De Soto has coined as "American style anime" but it's also highly unimpressive. This could end up as an interesting footnote in the "Living Dead" tome, particularly since the production is making of use of technology which allows them to film the animated sequences as if on a film set, but beyond that, there's little to get excited about here.

Am I alone in my lack of excitement of this production? The film doesn't have a release date but I expect that the teaser will be followed with more information in the coming months.
