I know. You're sitting there shaking your head wondering what possessed anyone to even consider wanting to be involved with a sequel to a movie whose best quality was Sam Elliott's stach, but bear with me for a minute because there are at least three things that suggest Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance might be better than the original and (gasp!) perhaps even good.

First off Mark Steven Johnson, the writer and director of the original is nowhere to be seen. Instead, the story comes to us care of David S. Goyer with a script from a couple of dudes best known for their TV work. It's not a glowing recommendation but it's a step in the right direction.

Secondly there's Nicolas Cage in over the top mode. This seems to be Cage's only mode of late but sometimes, he knocks it out of the ballpark. Admittedly he failed miserably with Ghost Rider but alas, I keep coming back to the well and occasionally he delivers.

Lastly, and perhaps the biggest selling point, for me at least, are the men behind the camera. None other than Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. These guys are pioneers of a very specific style of mile a minute, in your face action without reverting to hundreds of cuts a minute.


Thist first trailer isn't particularly thrilling and the burning skull effects do nothing for me, but the very thought of a new Neveldine/Taylor outing is enough to get my blood pumping. We'll find out if they've been successful when the movie opens on February 12th.

great...reduced to bathroom jokes now are we???? easy to see which audience this is aimed at...will save my money for a real movie & take a pass on the cartoons....

Nic Cage should never have been Ghost Rider.

They needed a younger no-name who needed a break. Nic Cage has some good movies, but Ghost Rider isn't one of them.

Ghost Rider 2? No interest in paying to see it, own it or rent it.
