Bruce Robionson, director of the British cult classic Withnail & I directs Hunter S. Thompson's "The Rum Diary". Johnny Depp is back to channel the manic journalist along with a stellar cast in Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins and Karen Austin.

Synopsis:
Paul Kemp is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.

The Rum Diary sees release October, 2011.

I’m very anxious to see Depp embody the good doctor again! Thompson influenced the past few generations with his invention of Gonzo Journalism. His work and antics will live on to influence even more generations to come.
