A ton of set videos have appeared for the film adaptation of Max Brooks's World War Z and the highlights seem to be a dude going all spastic on a highway and fast, fast zombies.
The videos were captured by people close to the movie's filming in Glasglow.
It's worth noting that, based on this video, the zombies in World War Z will clearly be of the fast variety.
Check it out below.

I'll give the movie a chance. it looks ok.
I never read the book so I can't compare and from what I've read this movie gets about 90% of it wrong.
but what ever. just another zombie movie. Will it be better than the average zombie movie? time will tell.

One bite,...and 5 seconds later yer a Z.
That's even faster than the 2004 Dawn of the dead. Some potent Z saliva there Mr.Pitty

They should take the WWZ label off, it's not even the same concept anymore. It's going to be a Brad Pitt action flick, complete with romance and saving the damsel.
This is the typical Hollywood bastardized version designed for the teen crowd with 30 sec attention spans.
I'm severely disappointed with the direction this movie is heading, it's nothing like the book at all and the title is there to sell it to the people who've read the book and prebuilt up all the hype.
I'll wait for the official reviews but I don't think the people who supported the book will be happy with this film.

This looks like it is just going to be a really generic zombie movie
The book was pretty generic too though.

I didn't see any fast zombies- just panicing people. Fast zombies would be a deal breaker.

Rereading the Michael J. Straczynski scripts that I've collected.
They don't mention fast zombies or how humanity won the war. In fact, the war appears to be ongoing.
Highschool of the Dead was more faithfully adapted.

Highschool of the Dead was great. (I didn't need all the fan service though)
can't wait for season 2.

If you turned within seconds, it WOULD NOT SPREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A slow burning virus will spread, a fast one burns out too fast.
Can someone shoot the idiot in charge of this?

AJ (9 years ago) Reply
Keep in mind folks, the whole 'bite-to-Z' timeline here is about 5 seconds BUT... that may be simply the shot, not the actual length of time needed for the virus to take over.
I'm sure it'll be quick, but when you're filming scenes like this, it's sometimes easier to shoot the beginning and end of a scene all at once because you don't have to move the camera. Once you have that, you move the camera to put the rest of the scene together with the other shots.

Looks like Brads stunt double has the easiest job in the world. I wonder if he stands in for Brad when it comes time to lay down with Angelina?

Looks like "28 Days Later" part 3. In the beginning when I heard brad pitt was invloved, well, this doesnt surprise me too much this would happen

Whatever! You whiny bitches always criticizing every piece of film that someone else makes. Compared to most piece of crap Z films that get made I am sure this will be good. Hollywoodized I'm sure, but still some good zombie action on a mass scale. STFU until you raise a few hundred mill and then you can make whatever movie you want.

Josh speaks the truth.

If Brad Pitt and the director were putting in an original effort to make something new in Z film I would cut him some slack.
But to use WWZ as camouflage and then pull a bait and switch is so typically Hollywood, use the popularity which is already there but bait and switch with someone else's vision of what the story should have been.
I wouldn't even have minded had they put in a disclaimer that it was set in the same world of WWZ but if the fast zombies are any indication, they're doing their own take on WWZ and playing fast and loose with the plot and story elements as well as the whole background.
So no we who object to bait and switch tactics aren't going to STFU, we are going to vote with our feet because frankly, it's tiresome to have to deal with Hollywood redefining everything to make a buck.
I'm looking for a miracle cure to appear in this movie and cue the sappy love song at the end of the movie where Brad and his love sail off to a secure island together...

Looks like dawn/day are the last great slow zombie films ever made... pity

Josh (9 years ago) Reply
Satan, Yeah, I know. Piss and moan on a web site then be first in line to see it.

pretty sure this is going to be a high budget zombie film. It will great!

I am a great fan of WWZ and i am all for a movie made... but to rip the original story like they apear to be doing is just "NOT DONE".
In the book i clearly states that zombies are slow, and the dieing/turning after infection can be as long as 4 days. A bite would be faster (within 24 hours, Zombie Survival Guide) but not 5 seconds as in the leaked scene. Lets just hope for the best, and maybe it's all a rouze to get more attention for the movie and they are using more of the original script then they are letting on. If u think im bitching about the movie... maybe i am, but i'll be one of the first to visit the cinema to see how bad they **** it up.

Speedy (9 years ago) Reply
I love the argument that "Make your own movie before you complain".. HA!!! Get a life.
If the Movie is called WWZ, then that implies that it is based on the book.
If it is based on the book, one would infer that they read it...
If the movie goes too far from the book, I won't watch it. I may find an off site version to watch though... and cry

coelacanth1938 (9 years ago) Reply
I don't think Brad Pitt has even read the book. If he had, he would know there were no running zombies in it. Here's an interview he gave: This was the tip off right here: http://content.usatoday.com/communities/livefrom/post/2011/09/burning-zombie-question-fast-or-slow/1
I've seen pictures of the zombie makeup too. It's awful. The zombies look like living people suffering from severe cases of psoriasis.
It looks like to me that they're redoing 28 Days Later instead of World War Z.

all you bitches are whining like you actually pay for movies anyway

Well all the vids out and about seem to indicate fast zombies, which is sad really, the book has alot of tense stuff going on, the Batlle of Yonkers, the reclaiming of Paris, the Great Panic in South Africa etc. i guess its just personal choice over which zombie people prefer. Personally i find the slow zombie more menacing. Then again they might try and take the Dead Island idea and have both, walkers for the partially eaten/decomposed, infected for the runners and recently turned.

Turner (8 years ago) Reply
Max Brooks is very dedicated to his idea of zombies. Since he sold the rights im sure he made it very clear in the contract that the zombies should follow his visualization and study in The Zombie Survival Guide. If not i'll be very dissapointed.
