Don Coscarelli, creator of cult mind-f@ck horror series Phantasm, the 80s sword and sorcery classic Beastmaster and, of course, the Elvis vs the undead cult smash, Bubba Ho Tep, is back with John Dies at the End, an adaptation of the book by David Wong.
Synopsis:
It's a drug that promises an out-of-body experience with each hit. On the street they call it Soy Sauce, and users drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and David, a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can't.
Cast includes Paul Giamatti, Clancy Brown and Doug Jones.

I'm halfway through the book and this looks good! I dig Coscarellis earlier work and this is gonna rock. The guys behind World War Z should get lessons from Don on how to adapt a book to the screen.
