Resolution Independent has found a director to take the reigns of their ambitious adaptation of Ashley Wood's graphic series, Popbot. It's Bruce Hunt and you'll know his work. While most recently he directed second unit on Guillermo del Toro's horror reboot, Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, he has a serious history working in cutting-edge science fiction, directing second unit on The Matrix and even working one of our favourite movies, Dark City, where he shot miniatures and FX.

Quote: "Bruce fits the bill perfectly – his experience as part of dynamic creative teams from the Wachowski Bros. and recently with Guillermo Del Toro on “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”. He knows what it’s like to work with a strong creative team to deliver the goods."

Hunt made his directorial debut in 2005 with subterranean shocker, The Cave. He collaborated with the Wachowski Bros between 1998 and 2002 on the Matrix Trilogy serving as both second and third unit director and was the second unit director and visual effects director on the 1997 hit DARK CITY.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on the Popbot project, but for the latest be sure to visit Unstable Marzipan or creator Ashley Wood's site.

More as it comes!

The above is a promo video that played at SDCC 2011. It does not represent the finished film. In fact when asked if "Kitty" would look like this in the finished film, producer Pete Ford replied "NO FUCKING WAY!!! GET REAL!!!"
