About this time last year we posted a scene from Marco Garcia's The Ocean Black. I was really taken with the scene Garcia had put together as a concept for his film – the aesthetics and shooting style showed great promise and though some of our readers took issue with the unfolding of the events, The Ocean Black certainly got people talking.

With the buzz generated by the video, Garcia and writer Douglas Sullivan have been working away at developing the original idea and concept video into a full length feature film. The "genre bending road movie" will expand on the original idea which sees a couple with a troubled marriage dealing with the breakdown of their relationship to the backdrop of a zombie infested world.

Garcia is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to get the project, which he hopes to shoot in North Carolina, off the ground. I'm not one to support every indie picture that comes floating through our pages but I really loved this concept video and am excited to see what Garcia and his team can pull together and I'm thinking some of our readers may feel the same way. If so, head on over to The Ocean Black's page for details on how you can help.

And if you haven't already, be sure to check out the original video below.

I wish them success, but they're going to have to do better than this. The original video had some good things going for it, but was overall completely ridiculous. Most of the responses felt fake; the characters were idiots, the action felt scripted, the zombies were silly ("we attack and eat people on the spot, but when we seek kids, we kidnap them").
