agentorange [Celluloid 10.28.11] post apocalyptic



Malcom in the Middle's Chris Masterson stars in Impulse, an apocalyptic short film we first talked about back in 2009. Back then we didn't know the plot, but now that the trailer has dropped and the full film is available, we know the skinny is: "with 30 minutes before the end of the world, a man (Chris Masterson) sets off on a perilous journey amidst death and destruction, bringing him to his final and most significant act."

IMPULSE made its debut at the 2010 LA Shorts Fest before a panel of judges headed by producer Paula Wagner (WAR OF THE WORLDS, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III). The film was later invited to the Sofia Independent Film Festival in Bulgaria, where it played alongside an exclusive selection of films including the Coen Brothers’ A SERIOUS MAN and the Oscar®-winning films THE NEW TENANTS and Best Picture Winner THE HURT LOCKER.

The films looks to have a some pretty slick FX. Probably because the post-production services for were completed at top entertainment post-houses such as The Village Recorder (WALL·E, WALK THE LINE), Company 3 (TRANSFORMERS, STAR TREK), and George Lucas’ Skywalker Sound.

The film is currently available on iTunes and also available on video-on-demand and ShortsHD, a channel which was recently launched to 40 million homes worldwide on DirecTV.
