Think The Walking Dead was the first great zombie television series? Wrong. Dead Set was a UK mini-series created by TV critic Charlie Brooker that premiered on E4 and was one of the biggest surprises of 2008. It was a perfect blend of satire and scares that had contestants on Big Brother holed up while the apocalypse happened all around. Unfortunately it has yet to hit DVD or Blu-ray on region 1, but needless to say I was keen to see anything Brooker would do next.

Fast forward to 2011. Our UK pal Projectcyclops just alerted us to Brooker's new show called Black Mirror and it looks completely insane - like a nightmare version of Philip K. Dick meets American Horror Story - still a blazing satire of our media obsessed, voyeuristic world but also dark.

The show's first episode "The National Anthem" just premiered to very big numbers (1.9 million) and decent reviews.

Check out the trailer for the show below. I guarantee you'll be intrigued, disturbed, the gamut.

WOW that was some of the best TV I've seen in quite a while! I loved Nathan Barley and Dead Set but Black Mirror so far tops them both. I can't wait for more. This was subtle satire played so straight you sometimes wonder if you're just imagining that it's funny. Kind of a darker, dirtier Twilight Zone or 24 on weird drugs.
