Documentary director Mark Hartley is on a role. His first two films Not Quite Hollywood and Machete Maidens Unleashed are required viewing for exploitation movie fans and he recently announced a new one on the infamous legacy of Cannon Films. Well it seems he's not done yet. The director has recently got the greenight to direct a remake of 1978 Australian horror film, Patrick.

If the original film from director Richard Franklin and writer Everett De Roche has never graced your television, it's about a guy named Patrick who is in a coma and somehow still manages to kill people with his mind. It's awesome.

The new version will star Richard E. Grant (Dracula, Withnail and I), Rachel Griffiths (Blow), and Sharni Vinson (You're Next).

Here's a promo poster for the new version:

You can pick up Patrick as part of this Aussie horror collection.
