quietearth [Celluloid 12.09.11] scifi drama romance

Two worlds sitting on top of one another, inverted, connected by an an enormous tower, and the love caught between the two. We're still anxiously awaiting this one having busted out the news on this flick back in February 2009. Escher indeed! was one way AO described it in his review of the script. While there's been a couple of stills that have showed up, a whole slew have just arrived. However, since they are from a Jim Sturgess fansite, they're fixated on one specific thing. Directed by Juan Diego Solanas (watch his incredible short film The Man Without a Head here), the film stars Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess. No release date has been set. Supposedly it's slated for sometime in 2012.

Adam is seemingly ordinary guy in a very extraordinary universe. He lives humbly trying to make ends meet, but his romantic spirit holds on the memory of a girl he met once upon a time from another world, an inverted affluent world with its own gravity, directly above but beyond reach...a girl named Eve. Their childhood flirtation becomes an impossible love. But when he catches a glimpse of grown up Eve on television, nothing will get in the way of getting her back... Not even the law or science.
