Bradley Cooper as the devil aside, we're thinking Paradise Lost will be Alex Proyas' triumphant return to visually mind-blowing cerebral cinema (though honestly I was quite a fan of Knowing). He's been a favorite of ours since Dark City and The Crow and though we haven't reported much on the comings and goings of his next outing, Paradise Lost, we've been tracking the project with high high expectations.

The problem is reaching those lofty ideals is proving costly and Proyas' baby is in trouble. Production has stalled Deadline reports that the film's budget “had passed the $120 million mark by 10% or 15%.” You do the math... that's a lot of scheckles.

Though when I hear of angels sword fighting mid-flight I think of Immortals which proved people want to see that at the movies.

Legendary Pictures have said that the film isn't cancelled, but that it will need some redevelopment to bring the costs down. Goodbye angel battles...

Synopsis:
An action-heavy take on the epic poem centered on the war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer.

The cast of Paradise Lost is Benjamin Walker, Diego Boneta, Camilla Belle, Dominic Purcell, Rufus Sewell, Casey Affleck and Djimon Hounsou.
