An interesting new project is emerging out of Argentina. Part sci-fi, part fantasy with a dollop of zombie action mixed in for good measure, Daemonium is shaping itself into an exciting new project to look forward to in 2012.

Directed by Pablo Pares and executive produced by Simon Ratziel, the man behind special effects studio Rabbid Fx (they worked on everything from Deus Irae (short) to Phase 7) Daemonium is a film told in five parts. Reading through the film's press pack, it sounds as though this is more along the lines of a webseries since they've got funding and story developed for five of these episodes but are hopeful to expand the story beyond that.


So what's it all about?

Daemonium is set in an alternate universe where technology and magic co-exist with humans and demons. Through a series of five chapters we see the evolution of Razor, the visible face of a dystopian government only interested in a final war against hell), Rebecca who, throughout the series will come to doubt what she has always believed in, and the birth of a new hero.

What that description doesn't say is that the first episode, subtitled Chapter 1: Baptism, is loaded with zombie-like demons which feature some impressive make-up effects, along with a pretty kick-ass heroine.

As a bonus to part one, which the crew have uploaded to get the fans talking and excited, we've also got a couple of exclusive stills from Chapter 2: Heroes and Vilains.

If you're keen on seeing more from the production, there's an excellent Tumblr which is loaded with images from the newly updated video. A nice bonus considering the action doesn't allow for paying close attention to the excellent makeup.

We'll keep you posted on how this project develops as we get more details but for now, check out the goodies below.

Well that was bloody painful to watch. I presume less cliched cinematography and editing may be replaced with an actual story and characters. Although I doubt it.
