Check out this trailer for Tasmanian Tiger survival thriller The Hunter with Willem Dafoe. With this, plus The Grey eating up early accolades, we're hoping there's a man vs. nature resurgence happening.

Here's the beef:
THE HUNTER is the story of Martin, a skilled and ruthless mercenary sent into the Tasmanian wilderness on a hunt for a tiger believed to be extinct. Hired by an anonymous company that wants the tiger’s genetic material, Martin arrives in Tasmania posing as a scientist. He proceeds to set up base camp at a broken-down farmhouse, where he stays with a family whose father has gone missing. Usually a loner, Martin becomes increasingly close to the family; however, as his attachment to the family grows, Martin is led down a path of unforeseen dangers, complicating his deadly mission.

The Hunter is directed by Daniel Nettheim and co-stars Frances O’Connor and Sam Neill.

The Hunter hits VOD March 2nd, and theaters on April 6, 2012.

the only interest this could p[ossibly have is if the tiger kills & eats the asshole who came there to hunt it down....is the best you guys in H'wood can do now? the mighty hunter kills some animals?? sounds to be as chikensh*t as The Grey...what a waste.

Yeah, good plan. Track down and blow away the last of a species thought to be extinct so you can use the DNA for profit. Tell me theres another twist to this story like a crazed killer hiding also. Otherwise this has to be one of the dumbest excuses for a plot I have ever seen. If you have ever seen the last film of a captured Tasmanian Tiger it looks like a pitiful version of a medium sized domestic shorthaired dog with strpes. I couldnt open the trailer but "Dying Breed" from 2008 was about finding The T Tiger also but at least the villans were human and the "good guys" were just looking to film the Tiger.
