quietearth [Film Festival 04.01.12]

It's almost time again for one of our favorite festivals, Sci-Fi London, which runs May 1st through the 7th. SFL is the only festival which plays the eclectic stuff we love here at QE, and this year there's six world premiers. To boot, we'll be presenting the incredible "city-as-a-maze" feature Exit. WP's include the long awaited Strange Frame and the Fabio brothers True Love.

This documentary is about the dying art of model making. Focusing on the personal stories of the model makers whose work shaped and enhanced the impact of feature films and gave it a breathtaking scale. Their practical hands on art is now slowly dying out, giving way to computer generated imagery.

Sol tells the harrowing tale of five young adults that find themselves stranded further from home than they ever thought possible. Everything goes wrong for the children as the comforts of home grow increasingly distant and the technologies they rely so heavily upon fail just as painfully as their hopes of ever getting back.

DIMENSIONS (trailer)
Stephen is a brilliant young boy who lives in England, in what appears to be the 1920s -- but nothing in Stephen's life is quite as it seems. His world is turned upside down upon meeting a charismatic and inspirational professor at a garden party, who demonstrates to Stephen and his friends what life would be like if they themselves were merely one, or two, dimensional beings. He then proceeds to explain that by manipulating other dimensions, time travel may actually be possible.
