Fans of The Raid: Redemption will certainly see similarities in set-up between that ass-kicking flick and this all new Judge Dredd movie, called simply Dredd.

Both feature elite law enforcement storming a stronghold to capture a dangerous drug lord, but of course Dredd was in development prior to The Raid. And honestly, with a its nifty scifi angle and Lena Headey as said scarred drug lord pushing "SLO-MO" (a fairly ingenious conceit enabling lots of stylish slow motion shots) on the masses, Dredd is still fairly enticing as an actioner.

Will the film, clearly made on a modest budget, be able to please fans of the property who are no doubt looking for a fully fledged epic return? I think a lot of that will depend on Alex Garland's story and script and whether people think Dredd is faithful to the character despite the limited scope. On the upside, Olivia Thirlby makes a hot blond.

In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO.

Anderson is PSI division. Not a rookie. New costumes don't make the judges look that imposing. Whats his chops chin isn't big enough. Other than that It could be ok. I hope so anyway. I loved the comic strip.

She's a rookie PSI in this film and she had to be a rookie at some stage to be a Judge.

Should point out though that Dredd began filming back in November 2010 and The Raid didn't go before cameras until March 2011.
