quietearth [Celluloid 06.06.12] scifi horror



According to Dread Central, one of the biggest cult film series of all time has the long awaited number 5 on the way. How reliable is this? We're not sure, but they claim it's scripted and will start shooting later this year. All we can say is, PLEASE GOD!

Phantasm obtained cult status shortly after its premier for it's impressive atmosphere, deadly floating spheres, and The Tall Man, a grave robber who turns corpses into robe wearing evil munchkins. Written by Don Coscarelli (the man behind John Dies at the End), the series continued with 3 sequels, only one of which was bad (it was #3). The fourth, and last, installment, explored some of the history of The Tall Man and more of the science fiction components and we can only hope that part 5 will expand upon that.


Every few years, word leaks that #5 is happening, but shortly thereafter, are hopes are dashed. I pray this is the real thing.
