Marina Antunes [Celluloid 07.24.12] horror thriller



It was exciting to have Jennifer Lynch after a 15 year hiatus to return with a solid thriller. Even though Surveillance didn't manage much of a theatrical release, it's worth tracking down. When Hiss (trailer) turned out to be a complete disaster which was quietly released on DVD in late 2010, it looked as though Lynch's second attempt at a career in filmmaking was going up in smoke but she's managed to pull through with Chained, another thriller, this one gaining notoriety for Lynch's fights with the MPAA over the film's graphic content.

It doesn't look like Chained will get much love theatrically but the film is scheduled for DVD and Blu-ray release on October 2nd (extras include the scene Lynch was forced to cut to avoid the NC-17 rating) and now we have our very first look at the film which stars the great Vincent D'Onofrio (his voice alone is creepy) as a serial killing cab driver and his unwilling protege Tim. Julia Ormand must really love working with Lynch because she makes a return appearance here in a small role as Tim's mother.


There are a few synopsis kicking around but I must admit I regret reading them so we'll skip right over them to the trailer which is very creepy indeed. I can't wait to see this.

This is the first time I hear D'Onofrio voice, since I'm Italian and all his movie are shown dubbed here. Is he speaking with a peculiar accent? I mean his vois looks different from the standard American accent I've always heard.
