Doug Liman is returning to sci-fi though rather than jumping between locations, his actors will now be jumping through time.

The long gestating adaptation of Jack Finney's Time and Again which started its life in Hollywood in the 1990s, will finally see the light of day. At one point it looked as though Robert Redford would bring Finney's time travel romance to the big screen but Liman has been tapped by Summit Entertainment to move ahead with the project.


The story follows Simon Morley, described as "a young Manhattan illustrator who agrees to enlist in a secret government experiment and is transported from the mid-20th century to 1882 New York, where he falls in love with a beautiful young woman and finds himself forced to choose between his lives in the present and the past."

If this had been made by Redford in the 90s, I'd expect the Morley to be played by a 30 something actor but considering the Hollywood of today, I'll be surprised if Summit passes up the opportunity to pair up two hot young actors.

No details on cast or even who will be adapting Finney's book but all will be revealed in due time.

I liked the idea better when HG Wells was chasing Jack the Ripper through time in Time After Time
