Mayhem maestro, Michael Bay, is executive producing a post-apocalyptic TV action series based on "The Last Ship," a 1988 novel by William Brinkley.

"The Last Ship" follows the crew of a naval destroyer after a global catastrophe wipes out more of the Earth's population, leaving them to "confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the only survivors."

The pilot for The Last Ship was written by Hank Steinberg (Without a Trace) and Steven Kane (The Closer).

This was a pretty good (although verbose) novel. Ity could be a good show.

Loved the book but I may not be the best judge. Put out any story and reference it occurring after WWIII and I'm usually sold. This is just one of many books I'd love to see on the Big/Little screen. Always wished Warday by Whitley Strieber and James Kunetka was made into a movie.
