agentorange [Celluloid 08.14.12] scifi action thriller



Director John Hyams is back with another installment of what is essentially a modest Universal Soldier revival that has, considering the success of Emmerich's first film, flown under the radar.

His last one, Universal Soldier: Regeneration was gritty and European in flavour and pitted Jean-Claude Van Damme against Andrei "The Pit Bull" Arlovski. Now it appears that Scott Adkins is the hero of the franchise and JCVD is some kind of super villain(?).

Anyway, while an official synopsis is elusive, the story if outlined in the trailer. Atkins is searching for the truth behind his identity and the murder of his family.

Terrible voice over notwithstanding this trailer ain't bad.

I saw the last one and it was pretty good. I will probably give this one a try too.

I still think that Wake of Death was another great JCVD flick that went under the radar like this one might.

I'll definitely check it out. Still think Unisol: Regeneration was the best action flick of 2010...what a surprising gem that was.
