Vancouver is a great place to live with events of all sorts to keep the masses entertained but since CineMuerte closed its doors in 2005 and with the closing of nearly every independent movie theatre in town, finding a good dose of genre entertainment is a difficult feat. One last bastion stands: The Rio Theatre and come November 2nd, the little theatre that could will be unleashing the Rio Grind Film Festival.

Spanning November 2 to 4, the weekend fest has lined-up a nice mix of low-budget indie goodies with some great must-see titles not to mention some documentaries and a slate of short films. Among the titles are Astron 6's awesome low budget sci-fi treat Manborg (review), Fantastic Fest winner Vanishing Waves (review) and Don Coscarelli's highly anticipated John Dies at the End (review).

Those who like their movies gory, on offer are Noboru Iguchi's Dead Sushi (review) and Bring Me the Head of the Machine Gun Woman while documentary lovers will find joy in Michael Stephenson's The American Scream, the world premiere of Josh Laner's cosplay doc My Other Me and Donna Davies' Nightmare Factory.
