One of the Slamdance titles that caught my attention was Matt Johnson's directorial debut The Dirties. I don't know any of Johnson's previous work or any of the cast involved but the story, a high school drama about bullying, caught my eye.
Johnson and Owen Williams star as movie loving high school friends who opt to deal with their bullies by making a movie about how they would, in a world without consequences, get revenge. Problem is that one of the friends isn't interested in simply making a fictional movie about it, he wants to do this stuff for real.
I'm a sucker for high school dramas and this one looks like it may go in an interesting direction. The revenge part isn't new but I'm curious to see if the filming of the events brings anything new to the table.
